One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival is the largest human rights film festival in the world. The Human Rights Film Network (HRFN) is a partnership of more than 40 independent festivals. Through the network, festivals cooperate in the representation of human rights in moving images. They exchange ideas on how to promote human rights films through festivals, broadcasting and educational programmes. They present films that discuss topical human rights issues and promote the screening of high quality films. They share experiences about the organisation of screenings and debates.

The festival showcases films from around the world that address human rights and related issues, bringing together celebrated filmmakers, local experts, and local and international audiences. Movies that Matter screens and promotes films that draws our attention to human rights and situations in which these are at stake. The foundation’s peak activity is the annual Movies that Matter Festival, taking place in The Hague, International City of Peace and Justice. The Movies that Matter Festival is the Netherlands’ main platform for engaged cinema, with over seventy documentaries and feature films of inspired filmmakers being screened every year.

We understand the immense polarization that currently exists within the world of film, art and culture regarding responses to the events this past month. Our collective experience delivering human rights-themed films to diverse audiences in many parts of the world, including many on the Israel-Palestine conflict, makes us appreciate now more than ever the critical importance of an inclusive, human rights-centered approach to this issue. WATCH DOCS Belarus is an international human rights documentary film festival that has been held regularly since 2015 in Minsk, as well as in regional cities of Belarus. FreedomFilmFest (FFF) is Malaysia’s only international human rights documentary film festival. Established in 2003, the festival provides a platform for stories that are unseen, unheard, and untold from Malaysia, Southeast Asia, and across the globe. Verzió International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, the largest documentary film festival in Hungary, has been organized on an annual basis since 2004.
